By Giovanna Sequeira Voci Dias

This project works with the concept of the mask as a social layer. Nowadays, people use their social media to expose just a select part of themselves. It seems painful for people to face their true selves and look in the mirror without a filter.

So, the project has five photos that have a chronological order. This is because it is a process of self-knowledge. So, the mask that I am using in the photos is falling along the project. In the end, the tape on my face works as a scar and refers to the pain of seeing the truth about ourselves. In Layers, I choose to work with the chiaroscuro technique to bring more power and a dramatic glance to my pictures.
