As a vegetarian and animal advocate, I created a colored pencil drawing that poses the question: “Why eat one and not the other?”

This thought influences my daily choices—everything from the food I eat to the clothing I wear. I wanted to capture that message visually because it’s a question that drives me and my advocacy efforts, as animal welfare has always been close to my heart.

For three years, I’ve volunteered weekly at Lollypop Farm: Humane Society of Greater Rochester. There, I work with all kinds of animals, including dogs, cats, pigs, and horses, striving to improve their lives, whether they’ve faced neglect, cruelty, or the effects of the meat industry.

The pig featured in my drawing is one I met at Lollypop Farm, and the dog is my own, Sammy. This piece is personal, aiming to spark reflection and encourage people to consider the animals in our world and the choices we make. I aim to amplify the voices of those who can’t speak for themselves and inspire others to take action by rethinking their everyday habits.
