To me, the sense of serenity that the ocean creates is one of its most precious qualities, so I wanted to embody the calmness of journeying across the shoreline. Specifically, I depicted a trip to Rocky Point, a beach where I loved to go during early mornings back home. At that hour, the only thing that seems to exist is yourself and the ocean. Taking in the vastness of the rolling waves, the scale of any problems you may be facing seems miniscule in comparison. I believe that having the ocean as a place of peace and reflection is vital in today’s bustling world.

Sarah Chin (she/her) ‘28 is a first-year industrial and interaction design major, hailing from the small state of Rhode Island. She can be found reading, watching TV shows, and singing karaoke with friends. She believes that art carries its greatest meaning when it can be shared and enjoyed by others.
