It’s too hot in here. Despite the temperature outside barely touching 60, I’m far too warm and far too crammed into this study spot. My coveted cave deep inside the second floor of Schine has now been taken over by herds of college students basking in the one last chance of vitamin D they’ll get before May. I’ve always thought studying was meant to be open and quiet. Now, I can barely read my history notes as deep breaths are huffed onto my neck and the guy across from me asks for a chair from the table I’m not using. How many more guys can they possibly shove around that table? I’m conveniently squished between two other chairs, both occupied by people slurping away at Panda Express noodles. I imagine myself squeezing through the sliver enough to lift myself from the table, but my body is stuck, wedged tightly between the table in front of me and the chair behind me. I feel the sweat pooling around my face, thoughts of colder, crispier, air tickling my ears. The good news? It’s supposed to snow tomorrow.
