Choreography and Music Arrangement by Yuxuan Li
The chirps of the birds awaken the quiet morning. Gurgling streams meander through the valley. Suddenly, a clap of thunder breaks the silence of the forest. The waves splash against the rocks. The rain comes to an end, and only the faint sound of water droplets falling on the water is left. Everything returns to its original tranquility. Spring is here.
But this is just the world I paint with music and body. I begin the music by using the sound of the traditional Chinese instrument, the zither. As a student from China, I think this is an excellent opportunity to introduce and blend my own culture into the Syracuse community. I remixed the sound effects of water dripping, waves, and thunder. When I heard this song for the first time, I thought of the image of mountains and flowing water, which is why I created such choreography.
Yuxuan Li is a sophomore computer science major. She is also a ballerina and choreographer. She wants to seek for opportunities and possibilities to combine art and computer science.
