She dyed her hair purple that summer and I remember running my hands through it, marveling at how the subtle highlights caught in the glow of the setting sun. Like threads of pure light shot through a pool of black ink. She didn’t want to bleach her hair so she had tried with just a box of dye and as expected, the color hadn’t come out as bright as she wanted. To me, it was the most exquisitely subtle purple shade I had ever seen, and I told her.


“Do you really think so?” she asked shyly, a smile creeping onto her face. 


I wanted to tell her I did, that in fact, it matched the indigo depth of her eyes that drew me like magnets everytime I met them. I don’t remember what else we talked about that day, only that her hair glowed through my fingertips like the galaxy and that I wanted to sink into her eyes and feel the cool waves wash over me as I stared into an endless purple abyss above.

In her spare time, she likes to read, watch movies with her friends and jot down random thoughts she has until she can take one and turn it into an actual piece of writing.
