I started writing this song after looking through old journals I wrote in as a kid. Something about the writing was so honest that it made me embarrassingly emotional to read it. I was also struck by how I canโ€™t seem to be impressed by anything Iโ€™m working on in the present, but I can look back at old things I did and deem them impressive so easily. It just really put that feeling of never being good enough into perspective for me because I know, in those moments, I didnโ€™t think what I was doing was impressive or โ€œgood enoughโ€ either. This song was a result of juggling all those feelings and me asking myself how I can recognize that Iโ€™ve changed so much while still acknowledging and honoring all those missteps and successes.
