Growing up Korean American has involved an awkward balance of my cultural heritage and personal identity. In this piece, I explore the ideas of intersection, how these two parts of my life combine and overlap. I think it’s important to embrace your cultural roots and allow it to serve as a larger figure in my day-to-day life. Whether it’s speaking Korean to my friends and family, bowing to my elders, or incorporating Korean traditional art into my current art practices, I find that this immersion can be beautiful.Â
